Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?’

This exhibition is presented in Duxbury’s Art Complex Museum, an architecturally stunning space. The museum contains a gallery for rotating objects from the permanent collection of the Carl A. Weyerhaeuser family and exhibition spaces that feature paintings, sculptures, prints, and craft objects created by contemporary artists. It also houses the Carl A. Weyerhaeuser Reference
Library of over 5K publications. A Japanese tea hut, part of the
museum’s Asian collection, is located on the grounds. The museum offers a year-round schedule of exhibitions, lectures, concerts, classes, education programs, demonstrations, and tea ceremonies.

Heather Stivison: Borders and Boundaries

Heather Stivison: Borders and Boundaries a solo exhibition of interdisciplinary works exploring borders and boundaries in terms of the basic human need for a place to call home. The artist puts present-day issues of migration and border wars into both current and historical contexts. The narrative works in the exhibition are a tapestry of drawings, paintings, textiles, and found objects. Each, in their own way, reflect the very authentic voice of the artist.

City of Dreams: The 400 Year Epic History of Immigrant New York

In conjunction with the exhibition Heather Stivison: Borders and Boundaries, Pleiades Gallery will present guest speaker Tyler Anbinder who will discuss City of Dreams: The 400 Year Epic History of Immigrant New York, while surrounded by Stivison’s works on the topic. Anbinder is the author of the book of the same name described by the New York Times as “A richly textured guide to the history of our immigrant nation’s pinnacle immigrant city.”
